A note from Chris – October 2023

Chris Broome – Managing Director

A note from Chris

Where has this year gone?!

With the summer firmly over, and the year end soon upon us, here at Longhurst we remain very busy ensuring our clients remain focused on both their financial plans whilst living their best lives.

Since my last Operational Note in April, we’ve welcomed a number of new and established households and businesses in as clients. To those of you reading this for the first time, welcome to Longhurst once again.

As always, a lot of other things have happened within Longhurst over the past three months, which I’m pleased to update you on below.

5th birthday

We turned 5!

I appreciate that both I and Longhurst look a lot older than we actually are, but for our small but mighty firm we proudly turned 5 in July.

We know that our clients, like all of us here at Longhurst, are concerned about climate change and want to play a part in reducing and negating carbon emissions.

So, to celebrate with our clients, professional connections and colleagues, we planted 200 trees through our strategic partnership with MoreTrees.

This simple act will offset 50 metric tonnes of CO2 emissions, which we calculated was the carbon omitted during  c.20 holidays our clients booked through our travel planner, Sian.

As we enter our 6th year as a growing and successful financial planning practice, we’d like to thank our wonderful clients, households, and professional connections for their continued support.

Onwards we go, together.

Money Marketing Awards - Next Generation Firm of the Year
Money Marketing Awards - Small Advice Firm of the Year

Money Marketing Awards 2023 Winners!

We couldn’t be prouder to announce that Longhurst won:

  1. Small Firm of the Year, and
  2. Next Generation Firm of the Year Awards

The Money Marketing Awards are the profession’s premier financial services awards that recognise, reward and bring together the industry’s leading advisers and providers for an unforgettable night of networking and celebration.

Our business competed against some of the professions oldest and biggest firms – some of which are national goliaths.

Thank you to the Money Marketing judges for acknowledging the business that we’re building here – we appreciate your support.

As you can predict, a fun night was had by all in attendance!

PA-AWARDS-2023-Best-Retirement-Initiative

Professional Adviser Awards Winner!

We won!

We couldn’t be prouder to announce that last night we won the ‘Best Retirement Initiative Award‘ at the Professional Adviser Awards 2023.

It was for our human-focused retirement service, called SmartRetire®, which encompasses financial planning, wealth management, estate planning, life transition coaching, travel planning, and good-giving advice.

We also received a ‘highly commended’ award in the Best Client Engagement (Advisers) category. We missed out on the hat-trick (following our 2021 and 2022 wins), however the winner this year is an incredible firm – congratulations to them.

More than 250 advisers, firms and product providers come under consideration each year at the awards, which seek to reward excellence within both the financial advice community and among the broader financial services sectors that help serve advisers and their clients.

Thank you to Professional Adviser for putting on yet another fantastic evening.

Project Longhurst
Money Marketing 2023 - Charity Champion Highly Commended

Project Longhurst

Our early 2023 launched ‘Project Longhurst’ good-giving programme also received a Highly Commended mention in the Charity Champion of the Year category during the Money Marketing Awards.

Our financial education charity of choice, The Money Charity, had this to say about our success:

‘Congratulations from all of The Money Charity team! We’re delighted to be one of the charities you’ve helped champion; your openness and collaborative approach as a funder really speaks to why you’ve received these awards and commendation.’
