Why engineers enjoy working with Longhurst

Chris Broome – Chartered Financial Planner

Idea to IPO

When we launched Longhurst back in 2018, we intentionally opened our office in Silverstone Park, and immediately joined the Silverstone Technology Cluster.

Why did we do this?

In part, because we are massive technology and motorsport fans – so there’s no better place to be in business!

But we also realised that this amazing community was severely underserved when it came to clear, honest and competent financial advice.

And so, we got very busy meeting and then working with a significant number of folk in and around the region – both engineers and technicians, but also fellow professionals and senior management.

Why do the Silverstone Park community like working with us?

Well, we asked a handful of local clients this question and these are some of the common themes:

  • We speak in plain language
Our clients appreciate clear, concise, and technical language. We avoid using jargon and instead use simple language that is easy to understand.
  • Use of visual aids
Our clients are often visual learners and prefer to see data and information represented graphically. We therefore use financial modelling software, charts, graphs, and other visual aids to help explain often complex financial concepts.
  • We emphasize data and analysis
Our clients can be very analytical by nature and appreciate a data-driven approach. We use data and analysis to support our recommendations and to help our clients make informed decisions.
  • We are transparent
In both how we work, our services, and how we charge. Our clients value this transparency and honesty.
  • We listen actively
Our clients want to be heard and understood. We listen actively and ask questions to gain a better understanding of our clients’ needs and goals.

Summary

By adopting these approaches our clients feel a higher level of trust, which leads to a stronger relationship.

Our clients also love our personal approach, which includes welcome gifts, social lunches, birthday and anniversary surprises, and other added-value perks.
